PDR Training - Advanced PDR Dent Repair - Dent Time

Here is a pretty nasty crease I removed from an 04 VW Jetta. The paintless dent repair / removal (PDR) process took nearly 3 1/2 hours. I used a few tools and a knockdown. Very little tapping though.

Creases are definitely a challenge no matter what length and depth. It's like folding a piece of paper and then ironing the line out. You have to be very precise or in the end, you'll still see a line. Between technique, patience and experience helped assist this to become a successful repair. For more info regarding our one-on-one PDR training, contact myself (Myke Toledo) at 1.858.699.2054 or 1.800.420.3368. You may also visit my official website at www.denttime.com as well.

Jetta Crease Dent Repair San Diego / PDR North County

Dent Time of San Diego - Well, we satisfied another customer and sharpened our PDR skills by removing a challenging 3 foot crease from a door. We actually removed another 8" crease as well on the quarter panel but decided not to share it all in this video. We will be showing the video in entirely in another post. Perhaps a pay-per view tutorial but we're not sure as of yet.

We know this video is short but you must appreciate we get to the point in a hurry. This crease removal actually took 3 1/2 hours to complete. A lot of patience and blistered fingers. This repair was challenging for numerous reasons. #1 was it was a crease. #2 We had to be precise. #3 There was backing behind the panel which causes our tool tip to be not as accurate. #4 The crease was long and became deeper as we went. #5 We had to make 5-6 passes.

Creases are one of the most challenging PDR dent repairs to achieve. That's why we wanted to share our testimonial crease repair video. It shows the crease but not long enough to show detail. We promise, we'll show you more from a tutorial and how we attacked it.

Stay tuned..

Dent Repair San Diego - Choosing the Right PDR Company is Crucial

From time to time our PDR techs see prior paintless dent removal / repair attempts that just simply are butchered. Unnecessary drilled holes that absolutely can create more of a problem in the future. If you notice, there are small cracks in the paint that actually look like bad acne. Leaving your vehicle with not just a lumpy look but future rust problems as well.

It is always important to ask yourself what is the most important? Quality or price? With any trade, in the end, you'll always be concerned with quality. Check out a companies profile, references and obviously their work. That should always come first. A lot of PDR companies claim they have years of experience but you would be surprised it is actually months or year or two at the most.

Here at Dent Time, we guarantee a complete removal or no charge will be applied. We pull no strings. We can determine how your repair will be completed before we even attempt the PDR repair. You have nothing to loose. Just email us your photos and we'll have a quick quote back to you within 30 minutes or less! From there, if you happy with our quote, we'll set up a mobile unit to arrive at your location (home / office) within 24 hours. Your repair will completed to your satisfaction and or no charge will be applied. It's that simple.

On-site. Done right! Call us today at 800.420.DENT (3368) or 858.699.2054

Toyota Tundra Paintless Dent Repair - San Diego|North County

Paintless Dent Repair is a Challenge but here at Dent Time, we make it an Adventure!

San Diego/North County PDR -On this dent we were able to pop most of the dent out without creating an oil can effect in the beginning. Lots of patience, knocking down and correct reading of the reflection. To some this might have seemed easy but it wasn't. Lots of hidden crowns and tapping to do as well. I guess though, if we make our PDR repairs seem easy, then I guess we've done more than just a good job. That comes with the territory. It's unfortunate the only people who appreciate and acknowledge craftsmanship are people who are related in the field or who understand this PDR technique takes years to master. It's too bad, most people think price before quality. What they don't realize is, quality will always be their ever lasting concern in the end.

About the video. We like to have fun filming and editing the videos. We always like to share our experiences when ever we can and have the time. This video has a little bit of everything. Special effects, humor and a little testimonial. We enjoy serving our customers and watching their reaction when they see their vehicle restored back to brand new condition. I guess yu could say self satisfaction is what drives us to be the best we can be. Not because we have to but because we want to! We take an everyday dent and put some excitement into our everyday job.

Bentley Paintless Dent Repair San Diego - Explains Process

Well, for those who keep up with my blog, here's a little something different. I created this video because I get many people who ask me about my techniques, the line board and the PDR process itself. My Paintless Dent Repair/Removal video was created to inform and educate all types of people. From potential customers, trainees, veteran PDR techs and just about anyone interested about the PDR process.

Now please keep in mind, this is a real basic explanation so don't be too critical. I left a lot out and some things on purpose. I do have to mention, PDR is not easy as I may make it appear to be. Pinpointing a sharp tool without missing is extremely difficult. That alone takes hours and hours of practice. And for some it may take months to develop accurate hand-eye coordination.

The line board I use is a high gloss black plastic with 1/4" white lines spaced apart the same demention. The black and white line as you can tell in the video reflect very well. I have tested all kinds of colors and backgrounds but nothing (In My Opinion) generates a consistent and more readable contrast than black n white. In other words, it works for me.

What I didn't mention in the video is that the Bentley had some serious thick backing laminated behind the panel. Basically, sound density material to keep the vehicle more quite on the road. I had to use a very sharp tool and I mean pick sharp. There was no other way or I would not be able to pinpoint. Oh and yes, I pulled the panel. That is another video that will be coming soon.

Finishing the last 5%-10% is always the hardest. This is what separates the men from the boys. Unfortunately for the retail market, it can be hard for them to distinguish a decent repair from a great repair. And this is one reason behind my video. But back to the subject. If you notice when you are trying to finish the last part, the center becomes hard to pinpoint. Ever wonder why? Well it could be numerous things like; not being patient, using the wrong tool, incorrectly reading your board, your not eye-level and probably the most obvious, your experience. Hang in there though. You'll get it or maybe not? That's up to you! If you find yourself still struggling, then you might consider Advanced PDR Training. This will definitely speed up your learning curve.

For those who are just interested in the service, I can assure you that my Company Dent Time will perform a thorough and high quality repair on your vehicle at an affordable cost.

If anyone would like to comment, please do so.
